The Alcaldía Mayor de Bogotá (Bogotá City Hall) is a landmark civic complex located in the historic Plaza de Bolívar, spanning 376,700 square feet (35,000 sq meters). Completed on May 22, 2010, this architectural and urban revitalization project was designed by Tectus Ltda., led by Architect Manuel Antonio Guerrero and Architect Suely Vargas, to harmonize with the surrounding heritage buildings, including the iconic Liévano Building and Palacio Municipal.

The design emphasizes contextual integration, featuring strategic spatial connections and volumetric links to preserve the area’s historical character. A standout element is the semicircular auditorium, Huitaca, designed with optimal acoustics and versatile functionality for public use. The project prioritizes accessibility and technical precision, addressing structural, hydraulic, electrical, and acoustic needs through collaborations with specialized engineering teams.

As a cornerstone of Bogotá’s government district, the complex strengthens the urban fabric of the city’s historic center while providing modern, multifunctional spaces for civic engagement.
