The Edificio Murillo Toro is a six-story historical landmark located on Bogotá's Carrera Séptima, in the heart of La Candelaria district. Designed by Hernando González Varona and Bruno Violi, the building was inaugurated in 1941 and named after former Colombian president Manuel Murillo Toro. Today, it serves as the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies.
Spanning 233,579 square feet (21,700 sq meters), the building underwent a meticulous historic restoration following a National Design Competition won by Manuel A. Guerrero and Suely Vargas Nobrega. Completed in April 2011, the project preserved the structure’s original architectural integrity while modernizing its functionality.
With its stately façade and prime location, the Edificio Murillo Toro stands as a testament to Bogotá’s architectural heritage, blending early 20th-century design with contemporary civic purpose.
